Please note, this is a one-of-a-kind ring made for our ARTring 2023 exhibition. ARTring is an annual celebration of bold design and craftsmanship showcasing masterful creations from 30 unique designers. The ARTring event is hosted in the gallery from November to January. Each ARTring comes with a dedicated Story Card featuring a sketch and quote from the designer.
The Barbican Ring by Ange B is a wonderfully chunky and substantial piece, paying homage to the iconic London landmark. A truly unique and contemporary statement piece, this ring is a powerful tribute to the fusion of architecture, culture, and vision, making it a significant and meaningful piece of wearable art.
Ange says about her Art Ring:
"The ‘Barbican’ Ring is inspired by my love of Brutalist architecture and the iconic London complex of the same name. The word refers to a beacon or landmark. Aside from its structural beauty, the Barbican Centre is a strong cultural hub for the city and it is these characteristics that I wanted to portray in this ring. The inclusion in the iolite gemstone symbolises the vision behind the inception of the Barbican complex, as an inspirational social housing project".
