Please note, this is a one-of-a-kind ring made for our ARTring 2021 exhibition. ARTring is an annual celebration of bold design and craftmanship showcasing masterful creations from over 40 unique designers. The ARTring event is hosted in the gallery from November to January. Each ARTring comes with a dedicated Story Card featuring a sketch and quote from the designer.
Ellis Mhairi Cameron creates sculptural fine jewellery, inspired by her Scottish heritage. Created by hand in her London studio, Ellis uses traditional techniques, such as wax carving, to give her pieces their signature rugged aesthetic. At the foundation of her brand is a belief in the beauty of imperfections, hand craftsmanship and a desire to provide clients with beautifully made fine jewellery, which can be handed down through the generations.
Ellis says about her art ring:
"I find beauty in the irregular, the imperfect and the eroded. For this Art Ring, I was exploring the historical relationship Scotland has with talismans; objects created throughout our history and worn as forces of protection, as well as aesthetic beauty. I wanted to create a ring that looked ‘pulled from the earth’ - an ancient object, carrying small intricacies as uniquely rich as the land which inspires it."
