Tumbled and polished ridges contrast with sea foam white crevices in this organically textured bangle, created and cast in Cornwall using the traditional lost-wax process. Emily specialises in handmade organic gold and silver jewellery, her textured, irregular ocean rings and earrings have become her trademark.
Constant experimentation, playfulness and development of ideas, alongside a mindfulness of the relationship each piece has with the wearer, drives Emily's creative process and output. The dichotomy of the precious and the organic – special stones encircled by sea-worn fragments of gold – characterises so much of her inspiration. At the heart of Emily Nixon's work remains the sculpture and tapestry of her early fine art practice.
